Dixie Student Receives Emperor Science Award Will Broomhead

Wll Broomhead, sophomore at Dixie Heights and KCAIT, was one of 100 high school students from across the U.S. who received the Emperor Science Award made possible by Genentech, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Novartis. He will work with a cancer mentor this summer and conduct research to help the battle against cancer.

PBS LearningMedia and Stand Up To Cancer give the award as part of their initiative designed to encourage high school students to explore careers in science, specifically cancer research and care.

Will is going to work with UK researcher, Dr. Yannelli, on a multi-week cancer research project, and he received a Google Chrome computer to enhance his study and a $1,500 stipend for expenses.

Dual Credit Process for the 2017-2018 School Year

Our juniors and seniors have numerous options to take college courses while in high school. Courses may be taught at Dixie by NKU professors, courses may be taught at Dixie by Dixie staff, or a student may go to a college campus and take courses. Each of these has a slightly different procedure and deadline.
