Feedback requested for CDIP

Kenton County School District employees, parents, students, and community members are welcome to attend an open feedback meeting regarding our Comprehensive District Improvement Plan (CDIP) at 4:30 on Tuesday, December 18 at Twenhofel Middle School.  The draft CDIP will be posted for review in advance on the district website in the “About Us” section on Monday, December 17.

Santa Shop/Volunteers Needed

As December arrives, so does the annual Santa Shop at SVA! Dates will be 12/12-12/18 this year,  It will be set up on the K-5 side, but the 6th-8th grade students will have plenty of opportunities to shop, also.

*We are highly encouraging students who want to shop to come to school on Thursday 12/13 from 6-8pm when the shop will be open, during the PTSA Holiday Program.

Students will also have a chance to shop in the mornings from 7:40-8:00am. Students need to check in with homeroom teachers before coming to shop.

Each team also has one lunch period set aside just for them to shop during activity time.

***Friday December 14th  Gemini, Archimedes, & Explorers

***Monday December 17th Apollo, Tesla, & Challengers

In order for the students to be able to enter the Santa Shop, they need to have money to shop. They are not allowed to just come shop with friends. The shop is not big, and we need to safely be able to monitor students who are visiting.

The last request is to ask you to share the below link for Santa Shop Volunteers in a newsletter or email communication with parents. The more volunteers we have, the smoother the shop runs. Thank you! (6-8th grade students are not allowed to sign up for these volunteers slots)

Back to School Health Requirements

It’s time for parents to start thinking about health requirements for back to school! Meeting health requirements for school attendance is an important part of making sure your child is ready for school.  These requirements provide the assurance that your child is not only up-to-date on necessary immunizations, but also that he/she is healthy to attend school.  Keep your child “on track” by making sure that he/she meets the health requirements every school year.

Because we anticipate a large response to this invitation, we will be delaying action by the Kentucky Board of Education until after the December meeting. Feedback and comments will need to be thoughtfully considered and any needed revisions made before bringing forward final sets of proposed standards to the board for action.

School Board Recognition Month

Summit View Academy would like to thank our KCSD leaders during School Board Recognition Month.

The Kenton County School District Board of Education is composed of Carl Wicklund, Karen Collins, Jesica Jehn, Joshua Crabtree and Carla Egan.

“The voters of our community have created a special group of education leaders in this board,” said Superintendent Henry Webb. “They are true partners in the work to ensure every child in every classroom can experience high quality teaching and learning.

“When you consider how state and federal funding is shrinking, our school board has faced tremendous challenges, and members haven’t flinched from their responsibilities,” he said. “Our community can be very proud of this team of board members, and I’m proud to be their partner working for education excellence for our children.”

Across the Commonwealth, Kentucky’s 173 public school systems will use January to recognize the work of the state’s 867 local school board members.

“School board members across Kentucky have faced numerous and growing challenges the past few years, and this year has been a particularly challenging one,” said KSBA President David Webster, chairman of the Simpson County Board of Education. “As I traveled the state last fall, I saw the dedication in every local school board member to make Kentucky’s schools among the tops in the nation to ensure our children can be competitive wherever they may go. I am very proud to be a local school board member in Kentucky.”

The Kenton County School District desires to keep parents and guardians informed of the current status and location of their bus, and to make it as easy as possible to provide this communication without interfering with parents’ normal schedule.
