Frequently Asked Questions about Full Day Kindergarten in the KCSD

Q: When will all-day kindergarten begin?

A: Full day kindergarten will begin for the upcoming 2018-19 school year. Students must be 5 years old on or before August 1 to be eligible for kindergarten.

Q: Will there be transportation?

A: Yes, parents can learn more about transportation at their schools’ open house in August

Q: Is this optional or mandatory?

A: In providing a world class education to all students, Kenton County School District will be offering a full day program to incoming Kindergarten students beginning next year.  A half day program will no longer be available through the school district.

Q: Is it too late to register?

A: It is not too late to register. Please register in your Kenton County School District residence. Information on enrollment is available here: http://www.kenton.kyschools.us/Content/1744

Q: Do you have to pay?

A: Full day kindergarten is part of the regular programming offered through the district.  There is no cost to Kenton County School District eligible children. 

Q: Does this affect all elementary schools in the District?

A: Yes. Full day kindergarten will be implemented at all Kenton County Elementary Schools.
