KCSD Inclement Weather Policy

By Terri Cox-Cruey, Ed. D., Superintendent of Kenton County Schools

The winter can be challenging to our instructional rhythm and overall school operations. It is particularly frustrating when events, scheduled well in advance, have to be canceled or postponed. While scheduling and rescheduling events during inclement weather is challenging, our current policy is to work with each school based on their circumstances to make sure the activity takes place for our students. Positive, proactive communication is necessary for all participants as we work together to disseminate information district-wide. I want to take this time to review how decisions are made when weather takes precedent.

Introducing "MyBusBuddie" parent portal

Parents and guardians are always interested in the status of the bus that transports their children.  While everything possible is done to assure that the buses operate on schedule, situations arise that can cause delays in their arrival times at a student’s stop.

The Kenton County School District desires to keep parents and guardians informed of the current status and location of their bus, and to make it as easy as possible to provide this communication without interfering with parents’ normal schedule.

Bus Routes

Bus schedules will be available and drivers will also be at Readifest to answer any questions you may have pertaining to bus routes, behavioral expectations, and approximate times of pick-up and drop-off.

PTA

The PTA is already hard at work planning many opportunities for families to become involved in our school community.  Please consider joining the PTA.  PTA will be kicking off their Membership Drive and offering opportunities to sign-up to help out in various ways.  Be sure to stop by to visit the PTA at Readifest.

Back to School Health Requirements

It’s time for parents to start thinking about health requirements for back to school! Meeting health requirements for school attendance is an important part of making sure your child is ready for school.  These requirements provide the assurance that your child is not only up-to-date on necessary immunizations, but also that he/she is healthy to attend school.  Keep your child “on track” by making sure that he/she meets the health requirements every school year.
