Kenton County celebrates state test scores

The 2017 Kentucky State Report Card has been released, and once again, the Kenton County School District is classified as Distinguished!  

The Kentucky Department of Education did not label schools based on the 2017 data as the state accountability model is transitioning to a new accountability model.  However, to honor the work and maintain continuity in the interim, the district utilized the same formula to assign designations to the schools and district. 

NKY Rally for Public Pensions is Oct. 24 Pension Rally

The NKY Public Pension rally isTuesday, Oct. 24 at Dixie Heights at 6 p.m.. Come for a discussion of current pension issues in Kentucky. Everyone is welcome.

Staff, students, parents and the community are all invited to a celebration of our academic accomplishments on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. at Simon Kenton High School

Beginning Sept. 18, students allowed to enter buildings 50 minutes before start

Beginning Monday, Sept. 18, students will be allowed to enter their school building up to 50 minutes before the start of school.

Site-Based Decision Making Council

The Kenton Elementary School population has now reached a minority student population of 8%.  Therefore, the SBDM (School-Based Decision Making) Council does need a minority parent member to serve on the council. 

Kenton Co. preschools earn 5-star rating!

The Kenton County Preschool Programs have achieved 5 Stars in Kentucky’s All Star Rating System through the Cabinet of Health and Family Services, Department of Community Based Services, Division of Child Care and the Kentucky Department of Education.

As we get ready to begin a new school year, here are some frequently asked transportation questions.

Stuff the Bus is July 31 Stuff the Bus

Help the Kenton County School District Stuff the Bus! Head to the Chick-fil-A in Fort Wright on Monday, July 31 between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., donate three or more school supplies, and get a coupon for a free Original Chicken Sandwich!

Special Board Meeting

The Kenton County Board of Education will meet in open session at a special called meeting on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 4:00 PM to annouce the new Superintendent.  The meeting will be held at 1045 Eaton Drive, Fort Wright, KY 41017.

KCSD participating in Summer Feeding Program

Student Nutrition is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge.

ASCENT Arts Application Deadline is March 23

Don't forget the ASCENT Arts application deadline is Thursday, March 23!

Math Night T-shirts math

Math night t-shirt order forms will be sent home with students and are also available under the Kenton Newsletter link on the main menu.  All proceeds from the t-shirt sales support the Donna Griffin Memorial Scholarship.

Open Swim at Scott High School Aquatics Center Open Swim times

The Kenton County Aquatics Center at Scott High School is offering Open Swim on the following dates and times:

  • Friday, February 10th: 4:30-6:30 PM
  • Friday, February 17th: 6-7:30 PM
  • Friday, February 24th: 4-7 PM
  • Monday, February 27th: 4-6:30; 7-9 PM
  • Tuesday, February 28th: 4-6:30; 7-9 PM

$1– Kids/$2– Adults — No Registration Necessary

Across the state this month, local school board members, including those in the Kenton County school district, will be saluted by their administrators, faculty, staff, students and community members during Kentucky’s observation of School Board Recognition Month

Alert: Snow Removal Maintenance Changes for Some Kenton County Roads

With winter approaching, the Kenton County School District wanted to make parents, students and the community aware of changes coming to snow removal maintenance on some roads.

Book Fair book fair

The fall book fair will be held in the library beginning on November 16 and ending on November 22.  There will be a family night on Monday, November 21 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  Students will be able to shop at the book fair during their regularly scheduled library times.  If you have any questions, please email Dr. Gardner at melissa.gardner@kenton.kyschools.us.

Kenton County School District ranked Distinguished again!

Upon further review from the Kentucky Department of Education, the Kenton County School District is now ranked Distinguished again, according to the 2015-16 School Report Card.

Support your school by attending the Florence Freedom game on Wednesday, May 24. Tickets are just $10 (which includes all fees), and $4 from every ticket sold will come back to your school! In addition, the Family Resource Center will receive a portion of the profits.
