Parents: Reminder to please make sure that you are checking your children on a regular basis for possible head lice. Remember, lice do not fly they crawl. Remind your child to not share combs or brushes, hats

The symptoms include:
Itching of the scalp, especially the back of the neck and behind the ears.
Presence of small light gray-brown insects and their eggs (called nits) which attach to the base of hairs.

The treatment should include:
Over-the counter head lice products.
Make sure you follow the directions completely.
Removal of nits after treatment with a comb or by pulling between fingernails is the key to successful treatment.
Cleaning of coats, clothing and the home (including pillows, combs, brushes, etc and anything that the head may have come in contact with) should be done with washing or vacuuming. All stuffed toys or extra bedding should be bagged for at least two weeks to prevent re- infestation.
