Teacher/Staff Contact:
I started my career as an elementary teacher at Crescent Spring Elementary and then worked at River Ridge Elementary before becoming a media specialist. I was at Visalia Elementary for 5 years as the media specialist and then when the school closed came to Turkey Foot Middle School. I love working with middle school students and reading middle school books. I can recommend books to you if you let me know your interests.

Welcome!!
Ms. Long hopes you will visit the library media center frequently and use its resources to further your knowledge and for reading enjoyment. The library has many resources including over 11,000 fiction and non-fiction books on hundreds of different subjects and on many different reading levels.

I encourage you to select and check out at least one book every other week. Carry your book with you during the school day and read it whenever you have a spare moment. Take your book home to read during the evenings and weekends. It’s a great way to relax!!

If you are having difficulty selecting or locating a book, ask Ms. Long or Ms. Elsbernd for assistance. We will be happy to help.

Library MediaCenter Hours
The library is open from 7:20 until 2:35. Students can come before school without a student pass for quiet work time. All students will visit the library during their language arts class every two weeks. You may also visit alone or in small groups. If you visit without your class a library pass is needed. Get your pass from your teacher, come to the library where you will have it signed by Ms. Long or Ms. Elsbernd. Present your pass to your teacher upon return.

Checkout Procedures
Any books taken out of the Media Center must be checked out. Bring your selected books to the circulation computer. The date the book is due will be stamped in the back. Most books have a two week due date. Some books may be limited to a one-night checkout or restricted to library use only. You may have up to two books checked out at one time.
When returning books, please return them to the basket on the circulation desk. A fine of 10 cents per school day per book will be charged for any overdue books. The maximum fine is $1.00 per book. There is no charge for weekends, holidays or illness. If a student loses or damages a book, the student must pay for the replacement of the book. Any student owing a fine or having an overdue book will not be permitted to checkout any additional books. After 30 days a book is considered lost and the cost of the book must be paid.

Behavior
Students are expected to enter the library quietly, conduct themselves in an appropriate manner, and keep the noise level down. Remember not to bring gum, candy, food or drinks into the library. Disturbing other students or behaving inappropriately will result in dismissal from the Library Media Center.
