6th & 7th Grade Language Arts Teacher
Teacher of Read 180 Program

Welcome to 7th Grade ELA!  I am Ms. Carol Munson and this is my twenty-first year teaching at TFMS, where I was also a student.  I graduated from Dixie Heights in 1994 where I lettered in volleyball, basketball, and softball.  I pursued an education degree at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky and also continued my athletic career in fast-pitch softball and field hockey. I was honored to be inducted into Transylvania's Athletic Hall of Fame two years ago.  I graduated from Transy in 1998 and ended up back home...I guess I just missed my mom's incredible Korean cooking! I absolutely LOVE working out at Triumph Strength & Conditioning (Crossfit) and finished 542 out of 20,000 women in the world in my age group during the Reebok CrossFit Open this past spring.  I gave up high school coaching when I completed my Masters degree at NKU and became a mom to my two boys, Camden and Owen.
Owen ("Odie"), 11, is in 6th grade at TF and Camden, 13, is thrilled to be in his final year here at TF with his mom.  "Odie" is my sweetheart who LOVES the Chicago Cubs!  Camden is my daredevil who LOVES roller coasters at Kings Island and baseball.  Camden has also had Tourette's since he was in second grade, but he doesn't allow his tics to stop him from achieving at a high level.
We will be studying the following:  Unit 1 "The Choices We Make" (Mythology & Personal Narrative), Unit 2 A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park (Short Novel based on a true story of Salva Dut also combined with a fictional story of another character), Unit 3 A Christmas Carol (Drama), Unit 4 "How We Choose to Act" (Poetry), Unit 5: "Growing Up is Hard" and Unit 6 The Lions of Little Rock by Kristin Levine.  We will also be focusingon grammar and mechanics through daily bellringers.
I really look forward to working with you and your son/daughter this year.  I can easily be reached at
