The Kenton County JROTC recently participated in the All Service JROTC National Championships in Fort Knox. Out of more than 300 competing schools from all 50 states as well as Japan and Poland, our JROTC program achieved a remarkable performance, ranking within the top 5% in the nation. Our Cadets also brought home the trophy for the Physical Team Test.
The team also showed remarkable integrity when they were mistakenly declared the winners and unanimously chose to return the trophies.
"When I returned, it was unanimous among our Cadets that we should bring this error to the attention of the judging officials and return all the trophies that were awarded in error," said SFC Robert Rinks, Army Instructor with the KCSD JROTC. "The event organizer mentioned that in her 15 years of running the event, this was the first time a team had contested being declared the winner. This incident serves as a testament to the exceptional integrity of these remarkable young men and women."
