Visitors on Campus Policy and Procedure Changes

Visitors on Campus Policy and Procedure Changes

To further enhance student and staff safety on school campuses, the Board of Education recently approved an update to Board Policy 05.3 “Community Use of School Facilities” and Board Procedure 10.5 AP.1 “Visitors to the Schools”. As a result of these updates, visitors to a school campus who intend to walk or run on tracks, through parking lots, or anywhere on campus during school hours while students are in attendance must check in at the front office and follow visitor check-in procedures. Visitors must wear a visitor badge while on campus. Schools are permitted to prohibit visitors from using areas occupied by students, such as playgrounds, athletic fields, tracks, parking lots, etc., during instructional hours. Visitor badges are not required when students are not in attendance (weekends, summer break, non-instructional days during the school year, etc.).
