Preschool Curriculum Description

The Kenton County Early Childhood Program follows the Frog Street PreK Curriculum, which is widely recognized as a successful approach to early childhood education.  Frog Street PreK Curriculum is a developmentally appropriate curriculum which promotes children to be active learners participating in activities they plan and carry out themselves.  A developmentally appropriate curriculum is age appropriate and provides activities and experiences that meet the developmental level of the children in the class.  It also is individually appropriate, meaning that the teacher individualizes the teaching approach to meet the needs of each child.   Children are active learners which means they learn by doing.  The child is encouraged to manipulate the materials and to choose what to do with them. The teacher supports and helps the child think about his/her actions and expand upon them.
