Preschool Philosophy

All children are valued members of the preschool program with individual needs and interests.  The needs of the whole child:  intellectual, social/emotional, physical, self-help, communication and problem solving skills are addressed following a developmentally appropriate, child-centered curriculum.  The focus of the preschool program is to develop communication , social and cognitive skills and to build self-esteem and Kindergarten readiness.  Each child is an active learner who, we believe, learns best from activities planned and carried out on his/her own initiative.  The role of the adult is to support and extend each child’s learning through play and active exploration of materials.  The program is tailored to meet the individual needs of each child through a team composed of the parents, teachers, staff and administration creating a positive school experience for life long learning.
