STNA through Gateway

(STATE TESTED NURSING ASSISTANT)

STNAs are certified nursing assistants. The job of a state tested nursing assistant (STNA) is to assist patients, monitor their health, serve meals, transport them as needed, and otherwise support a physician. People in this job frequently provide a wide range of services, including assisted living care, rehabilitation therapy, home health care, and emotional support. An STNA may be asked to bathe, shave, feed, or dress patients, on top of helping them with the toilet, skin and nail care, and any other day-to-day things they need.

This program is available to students at all three KCSD High Schools. You must be 16 years old to join this program

Aircraft Mechanic, Avionics & Drone Pathway through Cincinnati State

Students who complete this half-day, two-year program can earn up to up to 29 hours of college credit and three national certifications, including a drone operator's certification.

This program is available to students at all three KCSD High Schools and is located at Cincinnati State's Harrison campus.

JROTC

The courses are designed to give scholars the requisite skills to pursue a career in the field of in Homeland Security. Scholars work involves the study of National Incidents & Command Systems, Initial Actions in Emergency Incidents, Responding to National Emergencies, and Terrorism and Counterterrorism Operations & Internships.

Courses are available through all three KCSD High Schools. This program is located at Scott High School.

Building Maintenance through Gateway

This pathway prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills in residential and structural building. Including instruction in technical mathematics, blueprint reading, construction techniques, air conditioning, heating, plumbing, electrical, and applicable standards.

Four KCSD scholars in the Building Technology Career Pathway at Gateway Community and Technical College had the opportunity this summer to participate in an 8-week internship with KCSD staff members as their mentors. The scholars performed tasks in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical and HVAC.

The program is available to students at all three KCSD High Schools and is located at Gateway's Mt. Zion campus.

Automotive - Diesel - Collosion Repair Technology through Gateway

This pathway prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills in Automotive, Diesel, and Collision Repair leading to Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications.

The program is available to students at all three KCSD High Schools and is located at Gateway's Fort Wright campus.

Young Scholars Academy

Ready to be a full-time college student in high school? Come learn about the Young Scholars Academy!

The Young Scholars Academy is a highly selective partnership between the KCSD and Northern Kentucky University. A limited number of scholars are selected to take a full-time college course load on NKU’s campus for their final two years of high school at an extremely discounted rate! Scholars have the opportunity to earn 60 hours of college credit and/or an associate’s degree while working with a small cohort of motivated, like-minded scholars working toward degrees with a focus in STEM, integrated studies, supply chain, and computer science!

Ignite Institute

Our focus is to provide education and experience in career fields that are in high demand in our community. We are creating a reality where industry and education work together to ensure that scholars have the skills and creativity to succeed in our fast-paced, technology-driven society. Through project-based learning, students will have authentic, real-world experiences that will prepare them for the jobs of the future. Scholars will have access to over 20 dual credit courses through partnerships with local universities that will allow them to graduate from Ignite with an Associate’s Degree.
