About Our School
Taylor Mill Elementary is a rural/suburban elementary school serving approximately 620 students in preschool through 5th grade. We are located in Covington, Kentucky, approximately 10 miles south of Cincinnati. Our school is accredited with Southern Association of Schools and Colleges. We are currently meeting our goals towards proficiency on the Kentucky Accountability and targets for the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) accountability. Students demonstrating special academic talents are challenged within the classroom setting through a variety of activities including cluster grouping, tiered assignments, and supplemental programs. Leadership skills are nurtured through special focus groups including Student Council, Student Technology Leadership team (STLP), and Building Youth Leadership Team (BYLT). The needs of our special education students, as specified with their Individual Education Plans, are met through full inclusion in the regular classroom environment to the greatest extent possible. Students are also afforded opportunities in a wide-range of extra-curricular activities including: academic team, basketball, bowling, intramurals, Lego League, Energy-Wise Team, Chorus, Strings Program, and Drama Club. A full-time school counselor and a Family Resource Center provide a variety of services and the school psychologist is available on a part-time basis for consultation, referral, or assessment as needed. Events and accomplishments are recognized with awards programs, on the school news channel, and in our monthly newsletter.
