2020 Boys Basketball Tryout Information
Basketball tryouts will be conducted following CDC and KHSAA guidelines. Anyone who does not follow the guidelines will not be able to participate. Any TFMS child is able to participate in sports no matter which learning model they choose (hybrid, synchronous, or virtual)
Walk-ups will NOT be allowed to tryout. Last day to submit your paperwork to be approved for tryouts is on October 29th at noon. No exceptions.
Tryout Dates & Times (attend all days):
6th grade Boys: November 2nd,4th, & 5th from 3:30-5pm. (No tryouts Tuesday 11/3)
7th grade Boys: November 2nd,4th, & 5th from 7:30-9pm. (No tryouts Tuesday 11/3)
8th grade Boys: November 9th, 10th, 11th from 7:30-9pm
6th graders who are in the school building on tryout day will
report to the gym at dismissal for check in.
6,7,& 8th Students who are learning at home on a tryout day will
Be dropped off in the bus loop by the gym. Wait in your vehicle to be checked in. Check in will begin no earlier than 10 minutes prior to tryout time.

Please be aware TFMS basketball teams will not be participating in any outside tournaments this season due to Covid-19.
What you can do to be ready for tryout:
1) Complete the registration for the athletic packet on Family ID Click Here
In order for your account to be approved you must upload ALL six KHSAA documents and a copy of an insurance card.

If you do not carry your own insurance, supplemental insurance can be purchased through the county here: Click Here (all athletes must carry insurance to be allowed to participate)
** Deadline for submitting your familyID account to be permitted to attend tryouts is Thursday 10/29 at Noon. If you are registering after this deadline, your account will not be accepted or if your account is incomplete, your athlete won’t be allowed to participate this season. NO WALKS UP are allowed.
Items needed for tryouts:
Gym shoes, Water bottle, face mask,
(Water fountain is not available due to Covid-19, bottle refill only)
Please do not bring your own basketball to tryouts or practice.
Cost Per Season: $40 Athletic fee due after team has been determined.
Check in Procedure for Tryouts:
** Check in will not begin until 10 minutes before tryout time **
Students who attended in person school on tryout days
Students who learned from home on tryout days
Day 1: Only bring the filled out and signed Covid Screener & Liability form to turn in.
Athlete’s will not be allowed to participate without these forms completed.
Do not turn in until your first tryout day.

Report to the gym at dismissal
Can Bring to school tryout clothes to change into and a NUT FREE snack to eat prior to tryouts.
Arrive in bus loop no earlier than 10 minutes prior to your tryout time.
Stay in car until checked in by AD or coach
Arrive ready to tryout.
Do not bring a bag to take into the gym.
Covid Screener and Liability form will be collected and students will have temperature checked again before entering the gym.
**If they do not have the forms or have a fever over 100.4, they will get on the bus or call home to be picked up**

** If temp is above 100.4, they will be asked to leave**
Students will enter the gym and will be given directions to change and eat a snack until tryouts begin.
Passed entry screening students will exit the car wearing a mask and enter the gym.
* Masks will be worn and social distancing will occur when athletes are not actively in drills
Please be aware that there is no jump ball this season per KHSAA, and athletes will be limited to 2 spectator tickets for all games. At games, all athletes and spectators must wear a mask (unless on the court playing), sit socially distant, and can only attend their athlete’s game (no watching other teams).

Boys Basketball Season at a Glance:
Any TFMS child is able to participate sports no matter which learning model they choose (hybrid, synchronous, or virtual)
There are 3 teams: 6th, 7th and 8th grade
Each team will have at most 7-10 players (coaches decision)
All athletes must be passing 5 out of their 6 classes by Oct. 29th to tryout.
Length of the 2020-21 season: November to mid/late Feb. Games start in December. The season is shortened to only play each team once during regular season play with a one and out end of the season tournament.
No teams will participate in outside tournaments this season.
CDC guidelines, KHSAA recommendations, and County guidelines will be followed at practices and games during the season.
Games will have limited spectators this season.
If guidelines are not being followed, athletes could be removed from the team and games can be called and won’t be rescheduled.
The game schedule has not been released yet, but it will be a shortened season by only playing teams once in regular play.
6th grade- 5pm
7th grade- 6:05pm
8th grade- 7:15pm
Team will not be allowed to enter the gym until the conclusion of the previous game. The gym will be cleared between games and Spectators will not be allowed to enter until the gym has been sanitized. Players are not allowed to watch other grade level’s games.
Practice are typically be 3-5 days a week with 1-2 games.
Cost: $40 athletic fee (cash or check “TFMS Athletics”)
