Dress Code

1.)        Skirts, dresses, shorts, or pants must be knee-length or longer when a student is standingSlacks, pants and sweatpants must be the appropriate size, neither too big nor too small.  Belts may not be excessively long. Pants must be worn at the waist so that no underwear shows.  Pajama type pants are not permitted.  Pants must not have holes above the knees. Leggings/jeggings are acceptable only if worn under a dress, shorts, skirt, skort, or other similar fashioned bottoms that meet acceptable length requirements.  The following articles of clothing are not permitted: athletic pants with snaps, spandex/form-fitting pants, tights, yoga pants.

2.)        Sweatshirts, sweaters, shirts, blouses, T-shirts, and athletic jerseys must be the appropriate size.  (Not too tight or excessively large.)

3.)        Items inappropriate for the school setting include shirts, blouses, skirts or dresses in the following styles: sleeveless, tube, tank, halter, mesh, low-cut, crop, split, or lace up.  Neither the fabric, nor fit, nor fashion of an article of clothing shall allow exposure of undergarments or the midriff, whether the student is seated, standing, or moving.

4.)        Appropriate shoes are required.  

5.)        In reference to ALICE safety procedure; students will now be allowed to have their cell phones on their person at all times.  Electronic Devices could be used in the classroom for instructional purposes only.  If students are not using them for instruction they must be out of sight or these devices will be confiscated and the school will follow District Code procedures.

6.)        Bookbags are not permitted in the classrooms.

7.)        No coats or gloves are to be worn in school.  Headwear (hats, etc.) may not be worn in school by boys or girls. Hoodies may be worn, but the hood must stay down, off of the head.

8.)        Strictly prohibited are clothing and accessories that promote alcohol, tobacco, drugs, gangs, violence, sexual behavior, profanity, or discrimination through words, pictures, or suggestion.  These items include, but are not limited to, offensive print material or artwork on T-shirts and other clothing/accessories (including bandanas or gang colors/paraphernalia/symbols, swastika, confederate flag).

9.)        Make-up, accessories, hair style, hair color, or clothing that cause distractions in the classroom will not be permitted.  Anything that seems distracting will be subject to review under administration.   Students are not permitted to wear any of the following: sunglasses, colored lenses glasses, cosmetic, contact lenses such as wild eyes, theatrical make-up or face paint, studded/spiked bracelets, or collars, (dog type).  No body piercing is permitted except piercing of the ears.  Earrings or other accessories must not create an unsafe condition through their size or shape.

10.)      No heavy chains are permitted.

11.)      Articles potentially affecting the safety of the students or others or that create distractions to the regular school process, are not permitted.   In instances not specifically addressed in the district or school codes, the principal or designee shall render a decision.

12.)      The school is not responsible for lost clothing or any student property.

           

            Violations of the dress code will result in: 1) A call to parents to bring a change of clothing, or, if a parent cannot bring a change of clothing, 2) A change of clothing may be provided in the form of generic sweat pants and/or sweatshirts/T-shirts, which must be returned for washing at the end of the school day.  Students who continually disregard the dress code will receive additional consequences for Repeated Violations.
